Tax Planning

Tax planning built around your life, not just your money

Good tax planning is not about chasing schemes. It is about understanding your whole financial picture, then making steady, sensible decisions that help you keep more of what you have worked for.

What independent tax advice actually means

When we give you tax advice, we are not tied to any provider or product range. We look across the whole market and recommend what genuinely suits your circumstances, not what pays us to suggest it.

We are paid by you, the client, not through commission from a third party. That keeps our advice straight and our interests aligned with yours. It is the real difference between independent and restricted advice, and it matters.

Our process

  1. A first conversation

We start by listening. Where you are now, what you want your money to do, and what is worrying you. No jargon, no pressure.

  2. Building the picture

We gather the details, income, assets, pensions and plans, so we understand your full position before suggesting anything.

  3. Our recommendation

We set out clear, practical advice written for your circumstances, and explain the reasoning so you can make an informed choice.

  4. Reviewing it with you

Tax rules change and so does life. We review your plan with you over time, so it keeps working as things move on.

Will your money last as long as you need it to?

It’s the question almost everyone asks and few can answer with confidence. Cashflow modelling lets us map your income, spending and tax over the years ahead, so you can see the likely shape of your future and plan tax around it, rather than guessing.

FAQs

Financial advice, answered

Is tax planning the same as tax avoidance?

No. Tax planning means using the reliefs and allowances that exist, in the way they are intended, to arrange your affairs sensibly. It is legitimate and widely used. It is not about artificial schemes, and we do not recommend those.

Do I need an accountant or a financial adviser?

Often both, working together. An accountant typically handles your returns and compliance. We focus on planning your wider finances, pensions, investments and estate, in a tax-efficient way, and we are happy to work alongside your accountant.

When is the right time to think about tax planning?

Usually earlier than people expect. Planning ahead of a sale, a retirement or passing on wealth gives you far more options than acting after the event, when many choices have already closed.

Will you tell me exactly how much tax I will pay?

We cannot give a guaranteed figure, as it depends on your circumstances and on rules that can change. What we can do is help you understand the likely position and plan sensibly around it.

Does tax planning only matter if I am wealthy?

No. Anyone with a pension, a home, savings or investments can benefit from planning. It is less about how much you have and more about making thoughtful decisions with it.

How much does tax planning advice cost?

We are clear about our fees from the outset, so you always know where you stand before committing to anything. You can see how we charge on our fees page.
