Proposed Changes to Your Portfolio:

In Brief...

Over the month of November, we have been focused on reviewing the performance outcomes throughout 2019. Following a volatile last quarter of 2018, we believed that further uncertainty and potential declines in the world’s equity markets were to be a more likely scenario than a rise over 2019. Against an uncertain backdrop of underlying tensions, political instability and global growth slowing, global markets have made good progress and despite a more defensive stance our portfolios have performed admirably, returning over 8%. UK markets have moved away from their peaks of May 2018 and with this we feel slightly more confident in the outlook of 2020 with expectations of any slowdown being pushed back to 2021 or 2022.

In our most recent committee meeting, the upcoming UK election was reviewed in order to give clients some context as to what Reeves are thinking before 12th December. Whilst there are obvious differences in implications depending on which political party is successful, Reeves remains in a position where the outcome of political elections does not impact our decision-making process in the short run. Our investment strategy will not be swayed by market influences prior to an election and action will only be taken on matters where the outcome or implications are considered to be long term.
