Proposed Changes to Your Portfolio:

In Brief...

October has brought muted returns to global markets, with the MSCI World Index showing a net positive for the month so far. However, once again, there was a large geographical dispersion with the FTSE 100 and many European markets returning losses whilst the US S&P 500 index posted positive returns.

Although October has historically been renowned for increased volatility in returns and somewhat choppy market conditions, we have seen only a small relative increase in the diversity of portfolio returns this month. Once again, this year produces unpredictable and unprecedented scenarios!

All Reeves Portfolios have returned modest growth over October with Private Equity and European Smaller Companies leading this rise. We remain pleased with our current asset allocation which is reflecting our caution regarding market uncertainty. We continue to be overweight in cash and bonds with a primary focus this month on how global government bonds could present opportunities for investors. Our equity exposure is limited appropriately for each risk category and  currently exposed to growth opportunities  in markets while portfolios are somewhat protected from drastic downside risk with the addition of the cash and bonds.
