Reeves Investment Services

Portfolio Update

In Brief...

We welcome a new member to the Reeves Investment Services team to start this year. Reeves Independent believes in investing in exceptional homegrown talent, and that is why we have launched our new graduate programme. The graduates will rotate around the key areas of the business, learning the vital skills it takes to become a Financial Adviser. For the Investment team that means we now have more time to meet the specialist Fund Managers, currently managing assets held in your portfolios. We can use these meetings to ensure that their views on the year ahead are factored into our thinking regarding our goals and objectives.

In January we met with a total of five funds, including Janus Henderson Technology and First Sentier Global Listed Infrastructure. The team also attended several live webinars which gave further insight into the expected market activity for 2021. Meeting with Janus Henderson Technology, such a well- known technology fund, allowed us to discuss with market experts where the focus will turn to in this sector after its accelerated growth over 2020.

During our monthly Investment Services Committee meeting it was highlighted that, as a team, we continue to focus on reliable and consistent research, analysis and results. This process produces a stream of well-informed discussions and decisions feeding through to our portfolios and their performance. We believe that this consistency is key in a successful team and we aim to deliver this throughout 2021.

The general investment sentiment general investment sentiment in January was still net positive, however more volatility has entered the market, seen by the movements of the main indexes. The FTSE 100 sits at -0.74% year to date, while the S&P 500 is up 1.35% in the same period.
